California Loop | Motorcycle Tour

One of the great things about riding a motorcycle is you get to meet many like-minded people.  In 2009 I found myself in a restaurant near to where I live in the UK with six bikers.  I had met just one of them before and they asked me to join them on a two weeks ride around California, which I readily accepted.  Taking off on a motorcycle tour with people you don’t know and spending a couple of weeks with them can be great fun.  This trip certainly was!

Starting and finishing in San Francisco on rented Harley-Davidsons, we did an anti-clockwise route that took in The Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Big Sur, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Hollywood, US 395 past the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Mammoth Lakes, Tioga Pass, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe and back to San Francisco.  A great trip in glorious weather, that even the speeding ticket a few of us got on one remote road didn’t spoil the ride!  The cop from the California Highway patrol even posed for a photograph with us.  Classic!
